Chiltern Choir

Decoration The Choir The Chiltern Choir, based in Chorleywood, Hertfordshire, has about 70 members from Chorleywood, Rickmansworth, Watford, and the wider Chilterns area. Come and join us!

Chaired by Dame Gillian Pugh, we sing under the direction of Michael Cayton, our enthusiastic and highly professional musical director; our accompanist is Anna le Hair. We perform 3-4 concerts a year in well-known local venues, such as St Mary's Rickmansworth; typically, one is a large-scale work with orchestra, with the others on a smaller scale. From time to time major concerts are performed in larger venues, such as the Cathedral & Abbey Church of St Alban, in collaboration with other choirs, such as Harrow Choral Society and Watford Philharmonic Society.

The music comes from a wide spectrum of the choral repertoire, from mainstream traditional music to less familiar contemporary works; in recent years we have performed specially commissioned pieces by composers such as Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, Antony Le Fleming, and Bryan Kelly, as well as favourites from Bach, Handel, Mozart, Dvorak...
