Bach by Candlelight
Mar 21, 19:30 @ Royal Masonic School, Rickmansworth
Chaired by Dame Gillian Pugh, we sing under the direction of Michael Cayton, our enthusiastic and highly professional musical director; our accompanist is Anna le Hair. We perform 3–4 concerts a year in well-known local venues, such as St Mary's Rickmansworth; typically, one is a large-scale work with orchestra, with the others on a smaller scale. From time to time major concerts are performed in larger venues, such as the Cathedral & Abbey Church of St Alban, in collaboration with other choirs.
Music comes from a wide spectrum of the choral repertoire, from mainstream traditional music to less familiar contemporary works; in recent years we have performed specially commissioned pieces by composers such as Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, Antony Le Fleming, and Bryan Kelly, as well as favourites from Bach, Handel, Mozart – not to mention Abba and Cole Porter.
